Nadal Goes Through Furth Round Of Sony Open

Rafael Nadal qualified into the fourth round of Sony Open after beating Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan in a 6-1 6-0 victory.

Easy Win

Nadal only took 59 minutes to secure his place in the last 16, as he seeks a Miami title. The world number one’s next opponent will be Fabio Fognini of Italy, who beat Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut 4-6 6-3 6-3.

The Australian Open titleholder Stanislaw Wawrinka joined the 27-year old Spanish athlete in the fourth round. Wawrinka beat Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France 7-5 6-4. Wawrinka will face Alexander Dolgopolov of Ukraine, who won over Dusan Lajovic of Serbia.

In Women’s Court

On the other side of the court, Serena Williams also secured her quarterfinal spot after beating fellow American Coco Vandeweghe in a 6-3 6-1 win. Williams will face Angelique Kerber of Germany in the next round.

Maria Sharapova also booked a spot after prevailing against Kirsten Flipkens in a 3-6 6-4 6-1 win. The Russian will face former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova for a semi-final spot.
